The Problem

Utah Inventors Have Not Had a Collective Voice.

For years, Utah has enjoyed a remarkable reputation as home of some of the greatest inventors. Unfortunately, much of this technology has migrated out of state, forfeiting the attendant financial return to other communities.  To reenergize technology within this state, the 2006 legislature has budgeted over 200 million dollars for USTAR and related technical programs.  Nevertheless, there was no active organization among inventors in this state.  Without a peer group, it has been virtually impossible to communicate effectively with this significant group of individuals.  UtahInventor.org is providing an important link between inventors and the many resources that will evolve from this new emphasis on technology.

UtahInventor.org will not only service inventors in their individual capacities, but will focus on strengthening creative skills in corporate and university sectors as well.  In addition, a student section will be available to encourage the youth to pursue technical careers and opportunities.   By working together, inventors from the combined groups of corporate, university, independent and student levels can stimulate a renewed spirit of creativity to complement the state’s efforts in pursuit of economic prosperity.

The importance of the individual inventor’s role in economic development is paramount.  Consider the inventions of the copy machine (Xerox), personal computer (Apple), video game industry (Atari), and hundreds of others. These products were the result of a questioning mind in pursuit of a “new” idea. Whether working in the garage or in a corporate or university laboratory, this creative mind invents because of the same driving force that inspired our pioneer forebears.  UtahInventor.org hopes to supply support and motivation to energize this collective group of inventors in pursuit of the American dream.
