About Us

The Spirit of Renaissance® Foundation is a charitable corporation founded to rekindle the independent creative spirit typified by men like the Wright Brothers, Henry Ford, Philo Farnsworth, etc. As we look around, we see that in every aspect of life we benefit from the efforts of those who have paid the price to create and make new products available. Had they not been motivated to bring those inventions to light, how different our economy - even our world - would be. They have provided us a life of comfort and convenience and have vastly broadened our choices of entertainment and recreation.

Most patents issued today are the work of large corporations. Corporate inventors are a critical component of our economy, enabling perpetuation of industries that supply our basic products and services. University Inventors often feel frustrated with competing interests of publishing vs patenting, as well as the time required to advance general research to a practical product line.  Independent “garage” inventors, on the other hand, may be intimidated by high-tech inventions developed by large industry and as well as the difficulty of patenting, manufacturing and marketing a new innovation.

It is our purpose to help all groups of inventors get the information needed to help with each phase of the innovation process, to give them a support group to share ideas and successes, and to give their inventions exposure and recognition.  The Foundation will endeavor to marshall all resources within the State to provide a collective effort that can address unique problems of each inventive group.  These needs are being identified on an on-going basis by committees of members within each of the inventor categories.

Group support will arise within the various inventor organizations sponsored by the foundation under the name Utahinventor.org. Utahinventor.org is a subsidiary of the Foundation which will be run by its inventor/members, with regular presentations from experts, e-newsletters, periodic seminars and other helpful information via its website. Membership is open to all persons interested in furthering the success of the inventor community.
